Pat McGrath "Make Up Genius"

Pat McGrath
During fashion week, some things are just a given—celebrity sightings galore, fur protesters, and, of course, makeup maestro Pat McGrath. After a childhood of rummaging through her mother's makeup bag and a chance meeting with a fashion stylist, Pat embarked on a career in painting faces. To put it mildly, the word "successful" would be an understatement: She counts Prada, Anna Sui, Calvin Klein, and Lanvin as clients. "I really love being a makeup artist," says Pat, "It never gets mundane or predictable and every shoot and show is different." To get your own designer face for every day, "Skincare is the most important thing," says Pat. "Follow a daily regimen of exfoliating, cleansing, toning and moisturizing. If you have radiant healthy skin, you won t need to use a lot of makeup; your natural beauty will shine through." McGrath recommends playing up the eyes with CoverGirl VolumeExact mascara, enhancing lips with Max Factor MaxWear in Citrine Bead, and finishing with CoverGirl Cheekers Blusher in Pretty Pink and Silk Rose: "Less is the best for young women when it comes to makeup." —MAURA LYNCH

Pat McGrath is one of my Idols. Pat is an artist and a genius at what she does. She makes putting on Make Up so fun and makes you want to experiment. I get a lot of inspiration from her. Everyday natural make up is wonderful but I look at my face as a blank canvas waiting to be painted on. Always trying new things and experimenting with color like bold bright lips or a smokey eye or even both with a bit of shimmer. In Pat's words "You have to escape haven't you."
